Mercedes continues to develop its new S-Class One of the prototypes has once again been caught, this time with more camouflage than ever. With a horizon-to-market set for 2013, the new generation S-Class (W222 is the code name) is expected to adopt many of the design solutions expressed by the F700 concept presented at the Detroit Motor Show 2007. The new luxury sedan from the German company will also use many of the proposals contained in the stunning F800 concept presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010, especially in regard to the carrier.
The bulk of the range, the new Mercedes S-Class, will be animated by V6 and V8 petrol and from diesel-driven options are likely to include the German four-cylinder engine with 2.2 liters and 200 hp Current S250 CDI, the smaller engine that has never ridden a Class S. This same engine also could be used as a basis for a hybrid variant which also is considering the option of a V6 petrol engine with direct injection and the new battery technology LITEC. Like the F800, the new S-class cabin will have a much cleaner, with fewer knobs and switches. Mercedes wants to tap most exclusive and elegant interior so dispense with many materials and will focus on artificial appearance of wood and aluminum finishes. The new S class will come loaded with technology. The two video cameras located in the interior mirror will have a key role in feeding information to the advanced safety systems which will have the new model of the German firm.
