The wait is over, after a week of leaks, sketches ... Audi has just released the official photos of its new compact SUV Q3, just before he makes his long-awaited public debut at the Shanghai Motor Show. Q3 measured 4.39 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and 1.60 meters high when you consider the roof rails, ie, is 24 centimeters shorter, narrower 5 and 5 inches shorter his brother the Q5. In its design we appreciate a little more sharp front, headlights on and a wedge-shaped roofline that slopes gently on its rear half. His appearance is more dynamic than their brothers.
In the cabin, Q3 has room for five seats, although the rear does not seem very large, luxury finishes and a very clean lines. The trunk offers a basic capacity of 460 liters, but can increase up to 1365 liters if the row of seats folded down back. Standard equipment is extensive and we can highlight the optional onboard computer with efficiency program, an ambient lighting package with LED technology, a panoramic glass roof, sport seats and steering wheel three-spoke leather. Built on the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Q3 will be offered at launch with a pair of engines powered by gasoline and diesel, all will be equipped with Start & Stop system and a regenerative braking system. The engine is powered by a 2.0 TDI diesel 177 hp, while the 2.0 TFSI will be available with outputs of 170 or 211 hp. In the future will be present one second TDI 140 hp. The more powerful versions will be equipped with the familiar quattro and S-tronic transmission relations seven paddles on the steering wheel as an option.
Audi has sought to keep the weight of Q3 low, using different materials in their manufacture. For example, the engine hood and tailgate surround which houses the rear lights are made of aluminum, while the interior has several types of high strength steels. In Europe, the new Q3 will be built at the Martorell plant. Audi plans to begin marketing in June with a starting price for the German market for 29,900 euros.
